The Philadelphia Orchestra and its $140 million endowment in jeopardy? Possibly due to legal filings by two separate parties.

Pianist and conductor Peter Nero, founding music director of the Philly Pops, filed a request for a financial examination of details of the relationship between the Annenberg Foundation and the Philadelphia Orchestra Association. The orchestra and the Pops are currently in talks over the financial terms of a separation.

Also, the American... Read More

Slutwalk steps off in Philadelphia this weekend.

SlutWalk got its start after a Toronto police officer in January told a group of students attending a crime-prevention talk, "Women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized."

Participants will wear whatever they want - G-strings or long pants, pasties or turtlenecks - to make their point that women's dress and behavior do not invite rape.

Philadelphia's SlutWalk begins at 11... Read More

Eagles Big Moves Raise Expectations

The Philadelphia Eagles have raised the bar. With key trades and some surprisingly aggressive free agent signings, the Eagles have elevated expectations around the league, and among fans in Philadelphia. Gang Green now includes marquis names like Cromartie, Asomugha, Evans, Jenkins, Washburn and Babin. Add these guys to a roster that already includes names like Vick, Samuel and Jackson, and a good looking team starts to look great. Still to do - sign the top draft pick and Desean Jackson to... Phillies and Eagles land top talent with Pence and Asomugha

It was a huge Friday in the Philly sports world, and that doesn't count anything that actually happened on the field.

Philadelphia Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. pulled off another great mid-summer deal sending prospects Jarred Cosart, Jonathan Singleton, Josh Zeid and a player to be named to the Houston Astros for All-Star Right Fielder Hunter Pence. This season Pence is hitting .309, with 11 HR, 62 RBI, .356 OBP, and .472 slugging. The right handed bat is a welcomed addition to... Read More

Eagles Trade Kolb for Cromartie
  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 07/29/11 9:17 am | updated: 07/29/11 9:17 am
The Philadelphia Eagles are sending quarterback Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for pro bowl cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Eagles coach Reid has already anointed Cromartie the starting right corner, an upgrade the Birds need and gives their defense the biggest boost since Asante Samuel arrived. But what did the Eagles lose? Does the loss of Kevin Kolb leave them too thin at the QB position? Word is, the Eagles have former Titans starter Vince Young in mind as... Read More
