Opening day of the Made In America festival hosted in Logan Circle on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway went swimmingly. With over twenty artists between four stages there is a good amount of entertainment for any musical preference. The audience, in the tens of thousands, was well receptive and enjoyed the music this Saturday with great sets by up and coming electronic artists, hip hop groups, rock bands and soul singers.

Opening the ROCKY Main Stage was alternative rock group Walk The Moon, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio. The four piece took the stage and performed a fantastic opening set for the festival. Next up were HAIM playing an utmost impressive set at the Liberty Stage. Danielle, Este and Alana Haim provided a fantastic display of unity and vision with great charm. The HAIM girls will be releasing their debut Full Length on September 27th entitled Days Are Gone.

Rudimental played an amazing performance on the Freedom Stage. The electronic, dance fusion group from London, UK made for a surprisingly great set with a stellar light show and great instrumentation. The crowd were in awe by the musical superiority in the group. With so much to do in the festival, it’s really great to see the event go through its growing stages. The Skate Park stage is one of the more intimate parts and stages of the festival, being built right next to a half-pipe with professional Skateboarders riding and doing tricks during each bands set. Public Enemy then performed on the ROCKY Main Stage with precision and clarity. The pinnacle point in the set being Public Enemy's own DJ performing with a superb and exhilarating mash up between The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

Versailles, France rockers Phoenix made their way on the main ROCKY stage for a great performance in front of a dedicated audience. Deadmau5 lit up the imaginations of a very energetic crowd with an amazing light show. Another great feature about Made In America is the interactive aspect, with great video footage played throughout giant displays within the festival. Beyoncé closed the first night of the festival with an energetic, regal and pristine performance. Saturday, August 31st was a major success for Budweiser's Made In America, and Sunday is definitely in anticipation.
