Eagles Hire WR Coach Mike Groh; Joel Embiid Eastern Player of The Week; Simmons Foot Healed

The Philadelphia Eagles have now hired Mike Groh as their new wide receivers coach. Groh spent the 2013-2015 season with the Chicago Bears as a wide receivers coach and the 2016 season as the passing game coordinator and wide receiver coach for the Los Angeles Rams. Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson stated, "We are excited to add Mike Groh to our coaching staff. Mike brings with him a vast array of experience coaching wide receivers in the NFL and college. Over his career, he has demonstrated a great ability as a teacher and as a motivator and we look forward to him getting started in Philadelphia."

Sixers star Center Joel Embiid has now been named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. The award is for the games played between Monday January 16th - Sunday January 22nd. The Sixers won three games that week, and Embiid averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks. He had 29 free throws and 11 blocks. Embiid is now the third Sixers player to earn the title, the two others are Michael-Carter Williams and Allen Iverson.

Ben Simmons went in for a regularly scheduled foot scan on Monday at the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York. According to the doctors the foot scan showed that Simmon's foot is all healed. The Sixers stated that with the good news of Simmon's healed foot, he could make his NBA debut as soon as late February or early March. He broke his foot during the final day of training camp which forced him to sit out for the majority of his first season with the Sixers. The team hopes that Simmons will have an immediate impact on the team, especially when paired up with star center Joel Embiid.
