Beyonce and Jay-Z are proud parents of a brand new baby girl. Blue Ivy Carter is the name of the infant delivered to pop star Beyonce, 30, and her music mogul husband Jay-Z. Blue Ivy was born Saturday night, according to E! The singer gave birth at Lenox Hill Hospital on Manhattan's upper East Side. A hospital employee told the New York Daily News that the couple rented out the hospital's entire fourth floor for $1.3 million.

2011 saw U.S. album sales post an increase for the first time since 2004 according to the Associated Press. Maybe this is an indicator of how the market will react to CD's that contain more than one good song.
U.S. album sales rose more than 3 percent last year for the first gain since 2004 -- a sign that rising digital sales are finally stemming the decade-long decline of compact discs.

The death Philadelphia blues guitarist and songwriter Danny "Rio" DeGennaro has been ruled a homicide by Bucks County authorities, where he was killed last week. Bristol Township police found Daniel DeGennaro, 56, dying from a shotgun wound to the chest near the front door of his Crabtree Drive home, investigators remained tight-lipped regarding any leads they may have.

Arlen Specter made an appearance this week in Philadelphia - at Helium Comedy Club. No joke. Specter did a few minutes of stand-up at the club's open mic night.
Philly.com reported on Specter's appearance, "I've been in comedy now for 30 years," the former senator explained.
Taking a try at stand-up was a natural step after spending so many years in the "sit-down comedy" of Congress - and, Specter noted, it was considerably less expensive.

Bargain hunters hit the stores early as retailers looked to boost sales on the days after Christmas.
