Two Philadelphia firemen from Ladder 10 lost their lives early this morning while battling a massive warehouse fire in Kensington. Lt. Robert Neary was 59 and FF Daniel Sweeney was 25. The 5 alarm blaze was mostly under control at the time. Two others were also injured when they all were checking on a hose line in an adjacent building when the wall and roof suddenly collapsed on them. City flags will fly at half mast for the next 30 days in honor.

On a windy day at the ballpark, the Phillies have lost the opener.
Cole Hamels struck out 9 but allowed 4 runs in 5 1/3 innings as the Phillies lost to the Miami Marlins 6-2.

A warehouse fire in Kensington this morning has taken the lives of two Philadelphia firefighters and two others have been injured. The five alarm blaze caused the building to collapse with firefighters inside.

A 4-year-old boy from the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia was in critical condition and undergoing surgery at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children after shooting himself in the chest. The young boy shot himself once with a loaded handgun that he found underneath a pillow on his mother's bed. Jim Herr, founder of Herr Foods Inc., died last night at his home in West Nottingham, PA. He was years old. He is survived by his wife Miriam of 65 years, 5 children, 20 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Herr had contracted pneumonia last summer. This past December he developed a more serious pneumonia that made it difficult to swallow food or liquid. He passed surrounded by family.
