A man who was working on a film about gun violence was shot and killed on Monday night, 3/29, in North Philadelphia. It happened around 8 p.m. on the 1900 block of West Page Street in Strawberry Mansion. "This 55-year-old male was working for a production company. They were inside of a private residence. They were interviewing and filming some family members whose children were victims of gun violence in the last two to three years," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Anthony Merriett from the 2100 block of N. Marston St. went out to the production van to get some more equipment. That is when he was shot multiple times. Merriett was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police found a bag with production equipment and two cellphones on the sidewalk. The motive is not known, if it was robbery or if he was targeted. No arrests have been made. The anti-violence film was being produced for Netflix.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner identified the victim of the Monday evening, 3/29, shooting at Philadelphia Mills as 21-year-old Dominic Billa. Billa is the stepson of a detective assigned to the District Attorney office's Homicide/Non-Fatal Shooting Unit. "I extend my deepest condolences to our detective, and to the loved ones of Mr. Billa. We are outraged over the violence that claimed the life of this young man. Shopping malls, basketball courts, supermarkets and all spaces in our communities should be free of the threat of gun violence," Krasner said in a statement. The shooting happened around 5 p.m. in the food court near the mall's orange entrance. It started as a fight between a large group of people before Billa was shot. The mall was on lockdown for an hour while police searched for the gunman, but he was not found. Investigators are looking for the shooter and trying to determine a motive.

Delaware Governor John Carney announced on Tuesday, 3/30, that the coronavirus COVID-19 vaccine will be available to everyone ages 16+ starting next Tuesday, April 6. Registration will be open to all, but due to vaccine supplies and allotment you may have to wait a while still to get an appointment. Delaware has administered 439,391 doses of vaccine, or about 30% of the population. "Today's announcement means that more Delawareans who want to be vaccinated will have the chance to find a shot," said Carney. "All three of these vaccines are extremely safe and extremely effective against serious illness, hospitalization and death. I'd urge all Delawareans to take the first shot you're offered. That's how we'll beat this virus, and get back to spending more time with friends and family."
