The Chester County District Attorney's Office and Lincoln University Police Department announced an arrest in the fatal stabbing of one student and the injuring of two others during a fight at the Chester County university last week. 39-year-old Nydira Smith of Philadelphia is charged with murder of the 1st degree, murder of the 3rd degree, possessing an instrument of crime, aggravated assault, and other related charges in the death of 21-year-old Jawine Evans. It happened around 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, 2/16, at the Thurgood Marshall Living Learning Center on campus. A large fight had broken out inside the dorm. Smith drove from Philadelphia to the school. She is Evans' sister and was allowed on campus. Video shows Smith stabbing him in the neck. She also stabbed two others. They were taken to Christiana Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. Police executed a search warrant at Smith's Philadelphia residence and found bloody clothing, a knife block with a missing knife, and evidence of treatment for a hand laceration. She is being held in Chester County Prison without bail.

A small plane crash killed two people in a Bucks County neighborhood late Thursday afternoon, 2/24. It happened around 5 p.m. at Victoria and Brittany Lanes in Hilltown Township. One of the victims has been identified as Brian Filippini, who owns the plane. It was a commercial instructional flight. "Meaning one of the pilots already had a private pilot license but was training to receive their commercial pilot license," said NTSB investigator Robert Gretz. According the the FAA, the plane departed from Doylestown Airport and was headed to Gunden Airport in Perkasie. No one else was injured and there was no serious property damage. A piece of propeller did slice through the home of Brian Rush and ended up inside an upstairs bedroom. It landed next to a crib where his granddaughter usually sleeps. Luckily, she was not there on Thursday. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.

President Joe Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson for the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday, 2/25. 51-year-old Jackson currently sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She was nominated to that court by Biden last year. If confirmed by the Senate, Jackson would be the first African American woman to serve on the country's highest court. She would be replacing retiring Justice Stephen Breyer. Jackson had previously clerked for Justice Breyer.
