Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Teresa Sarmina ruled today that the prosecution held back details from a 1986 jury during the sentencing of condemned man Terrance Williams. Those details were brought to light this week by Williams' defense during a hearing in front of Sarmina. Specifically, the defense claims that Williams' motive for murder was rage over years of sexual abuse at the hands of his victim Amos Norwood. That detail was not told to the jury who sentenced him to death in '86. The jury also did not hear about the plea deal Williams' partner received in exchange for his testimony in the case. Marc Draper testified that they killed Norwood during a robbery. Draper claims he was coerced into the robbery story. Prosecution says the abuse claims are without corroboration and the deal Draper received is routine. Regardless, Judge Sarmina vacated Williams' death sentence and granted him a new sentencing hearing. He was scheduled to be executed next Wednesday, October 3rd.

All six girls accused of attacking a 48 year old mentally challengd woman in Chester are now in custody. Four of the girls, Janyea Bell, 16, Jamia Davis, 15, Rahmiyah Henderson, 16, and Anye Dennis, 16, appeared in court on Friday for an arraignment and held on $50,000 bail. They are charged as adults with first degree aggravated assault, burglary and other related offenses. The other two girls will be arraigned and charged similiarly. The attack occurred on Tuesday around 9pm. The girls apparently did it just 'for fun'. One of them recorded the entire attack on video and uploaded it to Facebook where it was seen by a local parent who called police on Thursday. The victim never came forward to report the incident but has since been taken care of, she suffered minor injuries.
