8th Annual Haverford Heritage Festival coming to Karakung Drive June 1st

On Sunday, June 1 from 11am to 4pm the Haverford Township Historical Society continues in their mission to protect, preserve and promote the history of their community, by hosting the 8th Annual Heritage Festival. The event celebrates the work of the Historical Society through emphasizing Haverford's cultural heritage that has managed to live on for generations.

Haverford Township Historical Society, located along Karakung Drive near Nitre Hall, the event will include a variety of historical entertainment, perfect for the entire family to enjoy. The event includes interactive tours of Lawrence Cabin and Nitre Hall, as well as antique displays of a Model Train and Cars, to celebrate the Historical Societyâ€™s successful site preservations.

The event is free admission and will include a variety of performances from special guests including, Rich Wagner, a Philadelphia beer historian, who will perform a unique Colonial Beer Brewing demonstration to show how beer was brewed during Colonial times. Demonstrations of High Wheel Antique Bicycling will also be prepared, courtesy of the Wheelman of PA. The Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia will be joining the event, performing demos of vintage baseball, 1860â€™s style. In addition, there will be performances by Colonial Re-enactors, Ned Hector, folks from Fort Mifflin, Friends of Lazaretto House, and Pirates of the Plank House Crew from Marcus Hook. Information and craft booths will also be set up, as well as pony rides, perfect for the kids!

The event provides food venders including Hooptyâ€™s Pizza, Centrellaâ€™s Deli and many more, as well as a beer tent serving local favorites including Twin Lakes. iRadioPhilly will be on hand giving away t-shirts, concert tickets and other free prizes!
