A little over a year ago, in May 2014, Fabio Saffagnini and some friends from the town of Cesena in Italy's Romagna region had a big idea for getting Foo Fighters to come play a concert in the area. Over the past year they gathered 1,000 musicians to come play the Foo Fighters' hit 'Learn to Fly' simultaneously live. The resulting video is mind blowing. The project is called Rockin' 1000 and brought together drummers, guitarists, bassists, vocalists, videographers, sound professionals, and other experts to pull off the feat on July 26th. The resulting clip is quite a sight. "Italy is a country where dreams cannot easily come true," said Fabio Zaffagnini. "But it’s a land of passion and creativity. What we did here is a huge, huge miracle." Watch the video below:
Dave Grohl was also impressed. He responded to the Rockin' 1000 (in italian). Translated he said, “Hello, good evening, it’s David. Forgive me that I don’t speak Italian, only a little. This video, how beautiful, so beautiful, thank you so much. We are coming, I promise, we’ll see you soon. Thank you so much. Love you all, bye.â€

Lauryn Hill recorded a number of tracks for the recent Nina Simone tribute album Nina Revisited along with Usher, Mary J. Blige, Common, Lalah Hathaway, Gregory Porter, Jazmine Sullivan, Grace, and Lisa Simone. In fact, Hill is on 6 tracks. She stopped by the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night to perform one of the standouts “Feeling Good.†She was backed by a 14-piece band and 3 backup singers. Her passion for the material translates into her performance, starting slow and building to a blistering peak. Simone made the song popular, recording it for her 1965 album I Put A Spell on You. It was written, however, for the 1964 musical The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd as a song of triumph and emancipation for the character 'The Negro'.
