James Franklin, the head coach of Penn State's Football, team has now been named Sporting News' Coach of the Year. Franklin is in his third season with the Nitanny Lions, and had started off the season pretty rough losing 2 of the first 4 games. After those two loses the Nitanny Lions never looked back and went on to win 9 consecutive games closing their season record out at 11-2. Franklin also helped the team beat Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship, moving them up to No. 5 ranked team in College Football playoff rankings. Sporting News stated "Franklin had dubbed this "Year 1" for the program after finally coming out of the NCAA sanctions resulting from the Jerry Sandusky scandal and the end of the Joe Paterno era in Happy Valley." Penn State will now go on to face USC in the Rose Bowl on January 2nd.

With Temple Football's Head Coach Matt Rhule off to coach at Baylor, the University had to decide quickly on who would fill in. Temple's Athletic Director Patrick Kraft has chosen Ed Foley. Foley is in his ninth season with the Owls. He was the assistant head coach as well as the tight ends and special team coach. Foley stated he is not new to change on the team, he was there when Al Golden left for Miami, and when Steve Addazio left to coach at Boston College. Foley was asked how he would feel if he were to stay as the permanent head coach, his response, "I'll do what is best for the program." Foley will now be guiding the Owls as they go on to face Wake Forest in the Military Bowl on December 27th.

With the Eagles getting ready to face off against the Redskins this coming Sunday, sources say that the "reunion" with former Eagle DeSean Jackson might intrigue him to some day return to Philadelphia. DeSean Jackson is in the final year of his contract with the Redskins, and the Eagles hope they could attract Jackson to come back to the team. Jackson was let go back in 2014 by Chip Kelly after numerous unsuccessful trade attempts. Now with Chip Kelly out of the picture, the Eagles are in desperate need of some help with their wide receivers. The decision will solely come down to Jackson himself as he has to weigh in other factors like the quality of quarterbacks, and how much playing time he would receive, as well as a solid contract deal.
