The Flyers are set to take on the Blues Wednesday night in St. Louis, but the team should hopefully have some extra help from a player who has been out for some of the season. The Flyers are hoping that center Sean Couturier will return to the ice after missing the past 16 games due to a ligament sprain in his left knee. Flyers Head Coach Dave Hakstol said "He's a huge part of our team, and we've seen that time after time when he's in the lineup versus out, if he's available, it would be nice to have him back." The Blues may also have help from a player who has been out, center Paul Stastny, who went out the last game before the Christmas break due to an upper body injury. The Flyers will have to test their skills tonight as they take on the Blues who have one of the best records at home in the NHL.

Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins has been named the NFC defensive player of the week for his performance in the game against the New York Giants this past Thursday. Jenkins recorded six combined tackles, three defended passes, two interceptions, and a touchdown in the 24-19 win over the Giants. Malcolm Jenkins now joins Brian Dawkins as the second safety on the Eagles to win defensive player of the week at least two times.

The Eagles have one of the worst NFL cap situations for their players over the next three seasons. For 2017, the Eagles will have the fourth least amount of cap space in the league with $17.78 million. It is predicted in 2018, the Eagles cap space will be the least in the NFL at $5.6 million. The Eagles are now looking into five players in the offseason that might not make it to the 2017 season. Ryan Matthews who was just put on the injury reserve list, starting center Jason Kelce, Leodis Mckelvin, fan favorite Darren Sproles, and veteran left-tackle Jason Peters. Any of these players being cut would add more to the Eagles cap space, allowing them to bring on new and better players to revamp the team for the 2017 season.
