Local Philadelphia band Courier Club has organized a virtual multi-stage music festival called Block by Blockwest (BXBW)* that will be held in the virtual world of online game Minecraft on Saturday, May 16th. An entire virtual festival ground has been built with three different stages, merchandise stands, mini games, an art gallery and more. Since the coronavirus COVID-19 crisis struck around the world, venues have closed down, musicians have canceled tours, festivals have been postpones, and music fans have had to stay at home. *not affiliated with South by Southwest SXSW.
BXBW aims to bring a diverse multi-national lineup in front of an online audience who will be able to interact in the virtual world. The Minecraft server will be @ fest.blockbyblockwest.com and will go live at 2:45 p.m. EDT. You can also participate by watching outside of Minecraft on YouTube or Twitch. (see video streams below).
Stage lineups and set times are listed below.
The festivities start at 3 p.m. EDT and go until just after 10 p.m. with bands playing 20 minute sets. There will be about 40 bands playing.
