Philadelphia Police have identified one of two suspects who opened fire on three plainclothes police officers on Friday night, 9/18, in the city's Cedarbrook section. 28-year-old Jeffione Thomas is wanted for attempted murder. His last known address is on the 7800 block of Fayette Street. It happened just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of Fayette and Sharpnack Streets. Three plainclothes officers were riding in an unmarked vehicle. A man, identified as Thomas, was slowly riding a bicycle near the car. One of the officers rolled down the window and asked if he was ok. Thomas pulled out a gun and started firing at the car. The police car drove a few more feet before crashing into a fence. The officers got out and returned fire. While this was a happening, another man down the street also started firing at the officers. One shot had gone through the car and struck the driver in his bulletproof vest. The female officer in the back seat suffered cuts on her leg. Both were taken to Einstein Medical Center for treatment. The third officer was not injured. The two suspects fled the scene. If you have any information, call police at 215-686-TIPS.
