New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy was speaking at a workforce development event on Wednesday when he abruptly announced he had to leave and go into quarantine. He was notified that a member of his senior staff had tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19 and that he had recently been in contact with that person. The governor was not experiencing any symptoms and tested negative on Wednesday afternoon. Murphy and his wife plan to stay home at least through the weekend and will monitor their symptoms.

"A member of the Governor's senior staff recently tested positive for COVID-19. Per guidance from public health officials, the individual is currently quarantining at home. We have begun the contact tracing process to notify everyone who may have come into contact with our colleague during the potential infection window."

"Out of an abundance of caution and in line with the highest levels of commitment to protecting public health, the Governor and First Lady will be canceling their in-person events and voluntarily quarantining through the end of the weekend, and each will take an additional COVID-19 test before they resume any in-person engagements. The Governor received a coronavirus test on Monday as part of his regularly-scheduled testing regime, which came back negative. The Governor and First Lady were also tested this afternoon, which came back negative," a statement said.

The former president of a Temple University fraternity has been sentenced to 3.5 to seven years in state prison for the attempted sexual assault of a female student in his bedroom at the fraternity house during a frat party. 23-year-old Ari Goldstein will also have five years of probation and have to register as a sex offender. In February 2020, he was convicted of attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, attempted sexual assault, and indecent assault of a freshman student in February 2018. The jury also acquitted Goldstein of sexual assault and indecent assault of another woman in November 2017.

Penn State Men's Basketball Head Coach Pat Chambers has resigned after new allegations of inappropriate conduct were revealed by an investigation. The investigation was initiated after a former player, Rasir Bolton, told The Undefeated that he decided to transfer because of something that the coach said to him. Bolton said Chambers told him, "I want to be a stress reliever for you. You can talk to me about anything. I need to get some of this pressure off you. I want to loosen the noose that's around your neck." Bolton was offended by the use of 'noose.' Chambers was not aware the expression could be offensive. "I've realized the pain my words and ignorance caused Rasir Bolton and his family and I apologize to Rasir and the Bolton family for what I said," Chambers said. "I failed to comprehend the experiences of others, and the reference I made was hurtful, insensitive and unacceptable. I cannot apologize enough for what I said, and I will carry that forever." However, the new allegations are separate from this incident. "The new allegations surfaced shortly after The Undefeated's article and a review was conducted jointly by Penn State's Affirmative Action and Athletics Integrity offices," Penn State said in its statement. Assistant Coach Jim Ferry will act as interim Head Coach.

The Philadelphia 76ers have hired Jameer Nelson as Scout and Assistant GM of the Delaware Blue Coats G-League team. Nelson is from Chester, PA and was an All-American at Saint Joseph's University, winning top end of year honors in their 27-0 2004 year. He played 14 seasons in the NBA.
