Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Ships, First Shots Soon; Winter Storm Watch; $5k Tip at Delco Restaurant

Millions of doses of the FDA-approved Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine have started shipping around the country. This vaccine must be kept at ultra-low temperatures and is packed with dry ice when not in a specialized freezer. Each state and county government is determining their own vaccination plans and priorities. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware have all stated that these first limited doses will be given to healthcare workers and both workers and residents of long term healthcare facilities. From there it will probably move to first responders, front line workers, and those with pre-existing conditions. It may not be until spring/summer before the general public can start to receive the vaccine. By that time there will be several different approved vaccines. This particular vaccine requires a second dose a few weeks after the first. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said that the first vaccines will be given on Tuesday, 12/15, at University Hospital COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

It has been 653 days since Philadelphia had a snowfall over an inch (March 3, 2019 w/ 3 inches). That will end this week. There is already a Winter Storm Watch in effect for the entire area until Thursday. There will actually be two separate storms. Monday there will be a small storm that will pass to the south. It may bring small accumulations north and west and rain to the south. Tuesday will clear up. Wednesday's storm has the potential to be a major nor'easter. The timing will be Wednesday into Wednesday night/Thursday. Gusty winds and heavy snow will pile up north and west of the I-95 corridor. The exact totals and where the lines will fall are still being worked out, but you will probably need a shovel or dust off that snowblower.

A group of regulars at a Delaware County restaurant left a waitress a very generous tip last Saturday night, 12/5. Gianna DiAngelo, a freshman at Widener University, works at Anthony's at Paxon Hollow in Media. The group, who frequently golfs at the Paxon Hallow course, left a $5,000 tip on top of a $205.94 bill. DiAngelo said, "I'm just happy with anything. So when they were saying $5,000, I just couldn't even believe it. I'm going to put that money away toward college and pay it forward to do something good for other people," she said. She is currently studying nursing. "We have no words other than THANK YOU !! Unbelievable support for our staff here!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !! Thank you for helping our staff get though the holidays !! We LOVE and APPRECIATE you ALL !! We have the best community around," Anthony's at Paxon Hollow wrote in a Facebook post. Indoor dining is now prohibited in Pennsylvania from December 12 to January 4.
