A Philadelphia father has now been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of his 2-year-old son in a Bucks County apartment last month. 27-year-old Jorddan Thornton had previously been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child in the death of Julius Thornton. It happened on the evening of December 2 at the Racquet Club Apartments and Townhomes on Veterans Highway in Middletown Township. Police responded to a call of a boy with a cracked skull. Thornton told authorities that his son had fell and hit his head while jumping on the bed. An autopsy concluded he had died from a gunshot wound to the head. After executing a search warrant, officials found a loaded Glock handgun at the foot of a bed and a bottom dresser drawer open. The gun was registered to Thornton. The Bucks County District Attorney's Office said that Thornton's son "accessed a loaded firearm and then shot himself in the head in a reckless or grossly negligent manner." He is being held at Bucks County Correctional Facility.

Officials in Cape May County, NJ, have released the identities of two people who were found shot to death in a Lower Township home in an apparent murder-suicide earlier this week. Police say that 45-year-old Rick Ryan shot his wife 39-year-old Kristin Ryan before turning the gun onto himself. Officers went to the couple's home on Cardinal Avenue in the Villas section to perform a well being check. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. If you have any information, call the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-465-1135.

A South Jersey man has been sentenced to 5 years in state prison for shooting a neighbor's Pomeranian-poodle dog. 65-year-old William "Wild Willie" Stroemel of Maple Shade pled guilty to possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and animal cruelty back in April 2020. Toby, a Pomeranian-poodle mix, escaped from the owner's yard on September 17, 2019. Stroemel shot the toy-size dog as it wandered past his home. The owner's family went looking for Toby, and took him to the veterinarian when he was found. The vet found a bullet in the back of his head. He had to be euthanized the next day. Toby's owner, 74-year-old Bob Cook, is a Vietnam Veteran and Toby was part therapy dog helping to relieve post-traumatic stress disorder.
