Farley: 'Likely' Phillies Fans at Opening Day; Robot Delivers Food at Airport; Two Double Shootings

Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley hinted during Tuesday's, 2/23, press conference that fans may be allowed back in the stands at Citizens Bank Park in time for the Phillies home opener on April 1. "It's likely there would be some fans in the stands at the Phillies' home opener, but how many is gonna depend, not just on us, but also what the state decides," Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said. New daily positive cases have been dropping and vaccines are being administered across the area. There is still a lot that could affect the decision to open up the stadiums for live fans and how many. Farley said they have received requests from the Sixers, Flyers, and Phillies. Of course baseball is played outside, which would make it safer. Currently in PA, indoor venues over 10,000 occupancy are limited to 500 people. Outdoor venues over 10,000 are limited to 5% up to 2,500.

You can now order food at Philadelphia International Airport and have contactless delivery via a brand new delivery droid. It is called "gita" - pronounced jee-tah. The pilot program runs through April. You order your food online. It is then placed inside the gita. Using Bluetooth and visual sensors, the droid follows an AtYourGate team member to you at your gate. You can then open up the cargo compartment and retrieve your order. The system is not fully autonomous, yet. It was developed by Piaggio Fast Forward and is already in several other airports. The program will be reassessed after the pilot ends and will factor in customer feedback.

"Now more than ever we are looking to be forward-thinking and innovative regarding our contactless ordering options," Megan O'Connell, PHL Food & Shops Marketing and Customer Service Manager, said in a statement. "Gita allows our guests to customize their experience by choosing how much or how little human interaction they want when having their food delivered. We are thrilled to offer this feature as part of the seamless contactless ordering experience at PHL."
