Relative Charged in Missing Folcroft Boy; Serial Rapist Accused in 8 States; Man Dies on Jet Ski

Charges have been filed in connection to the disappearance of a 10-year-old Folcroft boy over the weekend. 30-year-old Brooke Metra has been charged with obstructing custody of a child and escaping police custody. 10-year-old Mason Brooks, who has a learning disability, went missing from his Delaware County home on Saturday evening. He was seen getting into a black Nissan Altima with a man and a woman. Authorities traced the vehicle to the 5400 block of Chancellor Street in Southwest Philadelphia. They located Mason safe in the basement of the home. Metra is a relative of the child, but has been uninvolved in recent years. It is unclear why she took the boy. Metra was taken into custody by Folcroft Police. While in custody, Metra was able to get out of her handcuffs and leave the police station. She then attempted to car jack a woman. Police quickly apprehended her. She was eventually taken to county prison.

An accused serial rapist that allegedly stalked and raped numerous woman in the Philadelphia area last week is also accused of similar attacks in 8 other states. 28-year-old Kevin Bennett of Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested in his hometown on Saturday, 5/22. "This is a predatory rapist, who has committed other crimes as well, but this is a predatory rapist," Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner says. Bennett is accused of several counts of rape, robbery, burglary, stalking, firearms offenses, and more during a spree last week between May 15-18. All but one of his victims worked at gentleman's clubs throughout the city. He would wait and follow them after they left work. He is awaiting extradition to Philadelphia from Indianapolis, but since he is facing charges in many jurisdictions, including Indiana, it is not known when he may return here to face justice.

An Upper Darby man died after a jet ski accident in Ocean City, New Jersey, over the weekend. It happened just before 5 p.m. on the 300 block of Bay Avenue. 37-year-old Donald Waiters fell off the jet ski and suffered a medical episode in the water. He was taken to Shore Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. An investigation is ongoing.
