Pennsylvania restaurants and bars are NO longer allowed to sell 'cocktails-to-go' or offer temporary outdoor seating effective immediately. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced Tuesday afternoon, 6/15, that those measures enacted last year to help establishments during the pandemic lockdown expired when the emergency disaster declaration ended. The Pennsylvania State Police are tasked with enforcement. Earlier on Tuesday, Governor Tom Wolf urged the legislature to quickly pass House Bill 1154 which would extend those lifelines. However, amendments to the bill caused it to stall in committee.

"When the election is certified, and the constitutional amendments become effective, the COVID-19 disaster declaration will be terminated. Unfortunately, this termination also applies to the temporary rule created in 2020 to allow for the sale of cocktails-to-go from bars, restaurants or hotels with a liquor license. I support memorializing this relief for bars and restaurants by making cocktails-to-go permanent and I strongly urge the Senate to support Pennsylvania’s bars, restaurants and hotels by sending a clean bill to my desk today," said Wolf in a statement.

A man is dead after crashing his vehicle while fleeing from police in Northampton County on Tuesday afternoon, 6/15. It started around 2 p.m. when Pennsylvania State Police attempted to pull over 24-year-old Jimmy Nguyen at State Route 248 near the intersection of Jandy Boulevard in Nazareth. Nguyen was driving a Lexus IS 250. He failed to stop and continued to drive. He struck a vehicle exiting Wegmans Drive and kept going. Nguyen was traveling eastbound on State Route 248 when he lost control and went into oncoming traffic. He hit two vehicles (a black Toyota Rav 4 and a white Mercedes SUV) and then crashed into a concrete barrier. Nguyen was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Firefighters in Montgomery County were fighting a 2-alarm blaze at an engineering/construction company on Tuesday afternoon, 6/15. The first started around 5 p.m. at Henkels and Mccoy at 985 Jolly Road. Flames and smoke were seen coming from the roof. It was brought under control by 7:37 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
