A waitress was abducted and assaulted after trying to stop a group of diners from running out on a $70 bill from a Gloucester County, NJ, restaurant. It happened around 11:15 p.m. Saturday, 6/19, at the Nifty Fifty's in Turnersville. Surveillance footage shows the group of five dine-and-dashers leave the restaurant and get into a white Dodge Durango without paying for their meal. The 20-year-old waitress ran out of the restaurant after the group. The suspects pulled the waitress into the vehicle and drove away. They assaulted her inside the SUV and eventually pushed her out. The waitress made her way back to the restaurant and called police. She had bruises and a possible concussion. "This is brazen abduction, robbery, aggravated assault, possible kidnapping," Washington Township Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik said. "We're asking for the public's assistance in trying to help identify the owner of the vehicle and the suspect's in the photos. So there are five individuals. Three males and two females." If you have any information contact police at 856-589-0330 ext 1160.

A rider was shot on a SEPTA train during a robbery early Monday morning, 6/21, and the suspect was later found dead on the tracks. It happened around 6:12 a.m. near the Arrott Transportation Center at Frankford and Arrott Streets on the Market-Frakford El. Police responded to the Arrott stop to find a 27-year-old man shot in the abdomen and arm on the train. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. The suspect had tried to hold up the victim. The victim resisted and the suspect shot. He then fled between the cars and tried to jump off the train. The suspect was dragged under the train and struck. His identity has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
