Thousands of Philadelphia Water Department customers have been hit with sky high water bills due to computer billing errors this week. The problem was originally thought to be localized to the Point Breeze neighborhood, but Water Department spokesman Brian Rademaekers said nearly 17,000 customers are affected across 19 ZIP codes. Some customers received bills in the tens of thousands of dollars when they are normally like $50. Many customers whose accounts are set up for autopay are worried it could drain their bank accounts. The city says it stopped automatic payments and is working to correct the issue. If you received an incorrect bill call 215-685-6300 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. You can also visit https://water.phila.gov/contact/
These are the affected zip codes: 19104, 19111, 19116, 19120, 19122, 19123, 19129, 19132, 19133, 19138, 19140, 19141, 19142, 19144, 19145, 19146, 19148, 19149, 19154
Former Penn State president Graham Spanier was released from Centre County Correctional Facility on Wednesday, 8/4, after serving 58 days. Spanier had been convicted of a single count of endangering the welfare of children. He is accused of not acting upon a report that Jerry Sandusky had been seen in a shower on campus with a young boy in 2001. He now faces two months of electronic monitoring at home, 2 years probation, $7,500 fine, and 200 hours community service.
Police in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County, and searching for a man wanted for posing as a financial advisor to steal money from the elderly. Authorities say that Michael Siciliano embezzled over $1 million from three different victims over a five year period. If you have information about his whereabouts, contact police.
