The Main Point, Former Bryn Mawr Music Venue, Honored With Commemorative Plaque

Thursday night, 10/14, a group of fans of The Main Point in Bryn Mawr gathered to unveil a bronze plaque to commemorate the iconic music venue on Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr that closed 40 years ago. The celebration took place at the Kelly Center for Music, Arts and Community in Havertown, PA where supporters gathered to share photos and stories from The Main Point days of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The Main Point hosted shows by many performers who went on to enormous success, such as Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Ian and many more.

Tom Kelly, Executive Director of the Kelly Center comments, "The Main Point gave young artists an opportunity to perform. Many of those artists gave us the music of our lives."

With the permission of building owner, Steve Bajus, the bronze plaque will be installed on the outside of the building at the original location at 874 W. Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr. A plaque displaying the names of supporters will be installed inside the Kelly Center at 4 E. Eagle Road in Havertown, PA. The Kelly Center is owned and operated by Kelly Music for Life, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that serves the community with music and arts initiatives. The Main Point intellectual property owner, Michael Curry, arranged for the permission to install the plaque.
