Dr. Val Arkoosh, the Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, has suspended her campaign for US Senate. Arkoosh sought the Democratic nomination to fill the seat that will vacated by the retiring Republican Pat Toomey. Arkoosh, an anesthesiologist, increased her public presence the past two years as she led Pennsylvania's third-most populous county through the pandemic. Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta of Philadelphia, and U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb of suburban Pittsburgh are left in the race. The Pennsylvania Democratic Party committee meeting was held last weekend. No candidate received enough votes to gain the party's endorsement. Arkoosh finished last with only 17 of 290 votes in the first round of voting.

"My name may not be on the ballot, but make no mistake, I will still be fighting every day to help win this election. There's too much at stake. I said from the beginning we would build a campaign about Pennsylvanians and for Pennsylvanians, and I will keep fighting for Pennsylvanians each and every day."

Authorities in Delaware County have arrested a man in a deadly hit-and-run in Upper Chichester on Thursday evening, 2/3. Joseph Garcia of Brookhaven is charged with multiple vehicle code violations including accidents involving death or personal injury, duty to give information and render aid, and related offenses in the death of Joshua Quinn. It happened at 8:30 p.m. on 3100 block of Chichester Avenue. Police arrived to find Quinn facedown on the pavement. He was pronounced dead at the scene. They also found a headlight cover. After reviewing surveillance footage, police identified a 2007 Nissan Sentra with missing headlight driving by just after the accident. They matched the license plate to Garcia. Authorities brought him to the Upper Chichester Police Department for questioning. He waived his right to be silent. He said he was driving the Nissan for work as a delivery driver and heard a bang. He pulled over to look at the damage and went by the accident site 'three' times and did not see anything. He went back to work, switched vehicles, and drove home. Police found the Nissan with a missing headlight, cracked windshield, and crease in the hood. He is currently at George W. Hill Correctional Facility in lieu of 10% of $100,000 bail.

Upper Darby police are searching for two suspects wanted for robbing two different Wawas within days of each other. Both robberies happened around 4:45 a.m. The first occurred on January 29 at the store on South State Road. The second robbery happened on February 1 on West Chester Pike. "We consider them armed and dangerous. The first incident the gun was displayed. The second incident it was implied, so we know that they are armed," said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt. Each time they got about $500 in cash and also $1,000s in cigarettes. The men are described as Black men, one wearing a blue Hilfiger jacket and the other wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. "There were people inside the store. It was very nonchalant. In and out in less than a minute, and no one was aware what was going on," said Bernhardt. Police have increased patrols near Wawa stores. There are several other locations in the township.
