A Montgomery County man has been arrested and charged after shooting at police officers in a parking lot early Wednesday morning, 3/16. 62-year-old David Naumenko has been charged with two counts of Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer, Assault of Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Assault, Risking Catastrophe and other related charges. It happened around 3 a.m. at the Meadows condo complex parking lot near near Norwood Street & Meadowview Lane, in Mont Clare in Upper Providence Township, Pennsylvania. Police were called to a report of a man suffering from a mental health emergency. They encountered Naumenko and his wife in a white truck. When police approached, Naumenko opened fire on responding officers. An officer was able to access a second story and get an open shot on Naumenko. He fired once and hit him in the upper right arm. Police moved in and took him into custody. They found multiple firearms and boxes of ammunition in the truck. He is being held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2 million bail. Naumenko was ok.
Rita's Italian Ice usually offers free water ice on the first day of spring. This year, they are stretching the promotion out for an entire week. Spring begins this Sunday. "Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its First Day of Spring promotion with a twist on its famous free Italian Ice giveaway on Sunday, March 20, 2022," it said a statement. "To minimize crowds and improve the overall guest experience, guests will need to download the new Rita's mobile app to receive their First Day of Spring free Ice offer," Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard CEO Linda Chadwick said. "They will have one week to redeem it, so they can visit when it’s convenient for them." The free water ice promotion was cancelled the last two years due to the pandemic.
A 4-month-old baby's mother, father, and grandmother have been charged in the child's January overdose death in Bucks County. The boy's parents, Daniel Howarth and Felicity Westmoreland, are charged with involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The grandmother, Donna Westmoreland, is charged with child endangerment. It happened on January 7 on the 4900 block of Oak Street in Trevose. Police responded to the home for an unresponsive infant. The home was reportedly strewn with food, clothing, trash. "We uncovered 63 used baggies in the room that tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl, multiple needles, and other pieces of paraphernalia," Bill McVey, director of public safety said. Baby Daniel was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital in Langhorne where he died. An autopsy revealed that Daniel had died from fentanyl exposure. The grandmother had been appointed the baby's foster mother and had been under court order to never leave the child alone with the parent's. The two women have been arrested and are being held at Bucks County Correctional Facility. Daniel Howarth is still being sought. |
