Despite a loss and a plethora of pitching woes, the future may look a little brighter for the Phils |
|

The Phillies lost in a high scoring bout last night, 11-7. The loss was nothing new, especially in Citizens Bank Park this year, where the Phils have had horrible outings this year, but the way in which the game went possibly gave fans some light at the end of the tunnel. Chase Utley returned to the lineup for the first time since game 5 of the NLDS. If that wasn't good enough, he went 3-5 with a solo home run in his first at bat. To add to the list of Utley's positives, he looked to have a... Read More |

The Phillies are planning to activate Chase Utley for Wednesday's game vs. the Pirates. Utley's been playing official minor league rehab games for the Clearwater Threshers in Florida. He will probably play one more up here, most likely for AAA Lehigh Valley on Tuesday. He started those games hitting as a DH before eventually taking the field at 2B. His rehab assignment officially ends July 1st, but provided no setbacks he will end early. He played nine games for the Phillies’ Clearwater... Read More |

Phillies Win on Historic Walkoff by Jim Thome |
|
by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA started: 06/23/12 11:11 pm | updated: 06/23/12 11:11 pm |
|
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-6 this afternoon with a pinch-hit walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 9th by Jim Thome. He came off the bench to pinch hit for Jonathan Papelbon, who blew the save with a two run lead in the top of the ninth. Thome has talked about how difficult pinch hitting is, without the regular at bats, but last week's American league road trip helped get him back in stride as the DH. He took the count to 3-2 today before launching a pitch to left... Read More |

Michael Phelps vying to take home record number of medals? |
|
by: Hailey - Collegeville, PA started: 06/20/12 3:18 am | updated: 06/20/12 3:18 am |

Michael Phelps picked his events for the upcoming London Olympics. In addition to the three team relays he will participate in, Phelps entered into seven other individual events. This means that Phelps is in the running for 10 Olympic medals, which would outdo his 8 medals from Beijing. To up the ante, Phelps was recently on 60 Minutes, where he said that he would retire after the London Olympics. Leaving with 10 medals would be a worthy end to a career as varied and prolific as Phelps’.... Read More |

by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA started: 06/11/12 11:44 pm | updated: 06/11/12 11:44 pm |

Chase Utley will start an official rehabilitation assignment tomorrow with the Clearwater Threshers (A) as the DH. This will put him on track for a July 2nd return to the Phillies if he uses all 20 days available in the Rehab assignment. The year long mystery surrounding the status of Chase Utley got a little clearer this afternoon. Utley is going to head to Clearwater and start to play in extended spring training games. He could play as soon as Monday, probably as DH for a while before taking the field. There are extended spring training games Monday-Wed. and next week June 12-14. He can start an official rehab stint at anytime, and has 20 days to return to the Phillies when he does (unless suffering a set back).
