Ryan Madson Signs With Cincinnati Reds for $8.5 Million |

Ryan Madson will be wearing red next year but it will be for the Cincinnati Reds, not the Philadelphia Phillies. Madson reached an oral agreement for a 1-year contract worth $8.5 million to pitch as their closer next year. He will be replacing Fransico Cordero whose $12 million option was declined, in favor of a $1 million buy out.

The 76ers started this abbreviated season away from home. And after five games, a 3 and 2 record and 11 days on the road, they'll be playing hoops close to home for awhile.
After the Friday night home opener against the Detroit Pistons, the 76ers won't have to venture far from the Wells Fargo Center for more than two weeks.

Eagles Chairman/CEO Jeffrey Lurie announced during today's press conference that head coach Andy Reid will return for his 14th season in 2012. After high expectations at the beginning of the season, the Eagles started off slow, but finished well to end the season 8-8. Reid has only had 1 losing season as head coach after his first year in 1999, and has had an overall record of 126-81-1.

Hockey's Winter Classic is January 2nd between the Flyers and New York Rangers. One of the other many outdoor hockey games on tap for Citizens Bank Park next week will be a college battle between 14-2 Penn State and 7-3 Neumann University on January 4th.

The Phillies are bringing former GM Ed Wade back into the organization. Wade was fired by the Astros after last season. Ed will re-join the Philadelphia Phillies as a special consultant to the baseball operations department. During his time as GM in Philadelphia, Wade acquired players such as Jim Thome, Shane Victorino and Billy Wagner.
