Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his lair on top of Gobbler's Knob in the tiny town 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh just before 7:30 a.m. Saturday, 2/2, and did not see his shadow. Today marks the 24th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. It is the largest collective day of service in the country with over 150,000 volunteers participating in events and activities throughout the region. Girard College, in the Fairmount neighborhood, is the center of it all with over 5,000 participants and 150 different activities in that location alone. The 8th Annual Philadelphia Hip Hop Awards were abruptly halted on Saturday night, 12/15, after an altercation broke out in the seated crowd. The disruption caused a panic and the scared attendees pushed through the folding chairs and fled from the scuffle. There was confusion as to what threat prompted the scare, but once the dust settled and the building evacuated there was no salvaging the show.
