Rita's Water Ice its postponing the popular free water ice giveaway on the First Day of Spring due to the coronavirus COVID19 outbreak. The promotion was set for Thursday, March 19. "It's our favorite day of the year and one that has become a treasured tradition. However, the health of our community and guests is our highest priority, so we are postponing this celebration as a precautionary move," the company said in a statement. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Camden have each suspended public weekday and Sunday masses until further notice. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia's cancelation begins at noon on Wednesday, 3/18, while the Diocese of Camden's begins on Tuesday, 3/17. Louis Knight, a pizza delivery boy from Narberth originally from London, performed in front of the judges during Hollywood Week on American Idol on Monday night, 3/16. This week, contestants had to pick songs within their particular 'genre' to perform. 19-year-old Knight picked "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and gave a unique take on the classic song. Judges commented that he didn't bring 'the sauce' but he made it through to next week's duets round.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced on Monday, 3/16, that he is extending the shutdown orders to the rest of the state. Only essential businesses should remain open. The order had only previously effected four counties in suburban Philadelphia and one in Pittsburgh. "This isn't a decision that I take lightly at all," Wolf said.
