Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffery stepped down from the bench Monday after 8 years on the state's high court amid a porn e-mail scandal. He sent a letter of resignation to the governor effective immediately. The Judicial Conduct Board has dropped its investigation into McCaffery following disclosure that he had sent over 200 e-mails containing sexually explicit material to state employees between 2008 and 2012. Union members have voted unanimously to strike if SEPTA does not come to an agreement. 1500 members of TWU Local 234 voted to authorize union leadership to call a strike. The largest union represents 4,700 bus drivers, subway and trolley operators, and maintenance workers at SEPTA. Since March they have been working under an expired contract.

A student at a suburban Seattle high school opened fire in the cafeteria on Friday killing one and injuring several others as they ate lunch. The attacker has been identified as 14-year-old freshman student Jaylen Fryberg. He was killed in the attack. It happened at Marysville Pilchuck High School about 30 miles north of Seattle, WA.
