August 1, 2011 - Philadelphia radio station WHAT-AM 1340 dropped its Standards music format of 4 years and is preparing to go in a different direction.
The Pop Standards music format, previously known as Martini Lounge Radio, featuring artists like Frank Sinatra, Diana Krall, Tony Bennett and Michael Buble can now be heard on internet radio at iRadioPhilly.com. Martini Lounge Radio was originally aired on Philadelphia radio station WHAT-AM 1340 in August, 2007.

Philadelphia Weekly is reporting that nearly three dozen Occupy Philly protesters arrested in last Wednesday’s early morning police eviction raid made their first appearance in court Tuesday morning. Occupiers have been charged with conspiracy, failure to disperse, and obstructing a highway. They face up to five years in prison and a $12,500 fine.

Madonna has signed on to play the halftime show at the Super Bowl in February. The pop star is currently working on a new album and has a new movie which she wrote, directed and produced coming out just a few days after the game.
The show is the most-watched musical event of the year, with more than 162 million in the U.S. tuning in to see The Black Eyed Peas' performance with Slash and Usher in Dallas at halftime of Green Bay's Super Bowl win over Pittsburgh last February.Read More |

The 20th red light camera in Philadelphia is now up and running in Center City.
Broad and Vine is the latest Philadelphia intersection with a red light camera, snapping pictures of drivers who do not stop. There was a two-month grace period but that is over now. The camera went live Friday at midnight.
