It was announced today that the Citizens Bank Park will host the 2012 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on January 2nd, 2012 at 1 pm. The Philadelphia Flyers will play host to division rivals the New York Rangers. This is the 5th annual staging of the Winter Classic, where obviously the game is played outdoors.

Philadelphia Police Officer Deona Carter: Costly To The City

Philadelphia Police Officer Deona Carter's services will likely cost city taxpayers a half-million dollars this year.

About $75,000 in salary and overtime - plus the $425,000 that city attorneys yesterday agreed to pay to settle three federal lawsuits filed by people who say that Carter assaulted or wrongly arrested them.

Carter, an officer in West Philly's 18th District, remains on active duty.

The new curfew law that Mayor Nutter promised this summer after youths were arrested in a series of random beatings in Center City is introduced this week.

It would lower the hours when unaccompanied minors can be on the streets, and would set distinct curfews for three age groups - 13 and younger; 14 and 15; and 16 and 17.

Quarterback Michael Vick was knocked from the game and Jeremy Maclin sat out a few plays in the Philadelphia Eagles loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Sometime in the next three months, state lawmakers will begin formally considering a bill that would make Philadelphia finally deal with its 100,000-plus backlog of tax-delinquent properties.
