Coast Guard Search Suspended, Chestnut Hill College Third-Story Fall, Joe Frazier Statue

The Coast Guard has suspended it search for 32-year-old David McAuliffe, who went missing Tuesday morning aboard a commercial tow boat off the coast of South Jersey. Crews searched more than 400 square miles, for a total of 65 hours. It was reported that Cape Hatteras had survival equipment aboard, including two survival suits and two life rafts.

An undergraduate student fell from a third-story outside stairwell on Chestnut Hill College’s campus on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities say the student fell from an outside stairwell near Fournier Hall at around 3 p.m. The student suffered multiple injuries, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and is listed in stable condition. The college is withholding the student’s name pending notification of his family. The school released a statement saying, "We urge all the members of the college community and the public to keep this student . . . in our thoughts and prayers at this time."

Organizers say fundraising is complete — and a statue honoring boxing great Joe Frazier is a go. The late boxing champ Joe Frazier is being memorialized in bronze, with an eight-foot statue outside Xfinity Live! at 11th and Pattison. Sculptor Larry Nowlan, who created the fan-funded Harry Kalas statue at Citizens Bank Park, was selected as the artist. The statue is expected to be unveiled this time next year.
