Schools were closed in the area around a fire at an industrial park in Somerset County New Jersey that had been burning for 15 hours by this morning. The smoke trail was so massive it could be seen on the horizon Friday morning over Center City Philadelphia, some 60 miles away (photo by 6ABC). The fire broke out before 3:30 p.m. Thursday at a warehouse complex on U.S. 206 in Hillsborough Township. The fire raged on overnight producing large plumes of smoke that could be seen for miles.Read More

A former swimmer who once had hopes of qualifying for Olympic trials is suing Germantown Academy, alleging the school tolerated "physical and mental abuse" and allowed the swim coach to stay on despite numerous claims of abuse during his tenure. The swimmer, named John Doe in the suit, started training with Germantown Academy in 2012 when he was in 8th grade. The suit alleges then-coach Dick Shoulberg pitted him against another swimmer. Ursinus College has cancelled classes for the rest of the week out of 'an abundance of caution' following the outbreak of a gastrointestinal illness that swept across campus. On Thursday the number of ill students, staff, and faculty rose to 153. It began Tuesday night and by Wednesday dozens were heading to the on-campus wellness center as well as local hospitals and urgent care centers. Police are investigating a knifepoint robbery which left a cab driver injured in the Queen Village section of Philadelphia. The incident happened around midnight near 4th and Catherine streets. Jaswant Mann of Somerton said he picked up a fare, who pulled out a knife and placed the knife to his neck. After a brief struggle, the 51-year-old driver was slashed in the hand, and the suspect fled on foot with $70 cash. Mann drove himself to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, received stitches... At least 100 students have fallen ill at Ursinus College. Officials at the school say they are still working to track down the source of the sickness that is impacting so many of their students. The college voluntarily closed down their cafeteria after students became ill with stomach-related ailments. A vote on a resolution in the Pennsylvania Senate fell just a few votes short of the two-thirds majority needed to remove Attorney General Kathleen Kane by Senate Address. The vote was split 29-19 in favor of directing Governor Tom Wolf to take her out of office, which was about 4 votes short of passing. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is headed back home after a disappointing finish in the New Hampshire primary. Christie had poured most of his campaign resources into the race but finished 6th out of 8 candidates. Christie says he going back to the Garden State without an ounce of regret and he will decide whether or not to continue in the race.

Point Breeze House Fire, Kane Removal Vote Today, Goodwill Bridal Sale

One man was injured after flames ripped through a home overnight in South Philadelphia. The fire broke out around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of Reed Street in the Point Breeze section of the city. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control. One man was taken to Methodist Hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Video footage has surfaced that reportedly shows the early Sunday morning brawl at Recess Nightclub in Old City involving off-duty Philadelphia Police officers and NFL player LeSean McCoy and acquaintances. Surveillance cameras were not working inside the private social club but the fight was caught on cell phone video. The fight started after an argument over a bottle of champagne. When we started today, most schools opened on time. Roads were just wet. And SEPTA had only minor delays. The Winter Storm Warning has been downgraded to an Advisory. We'll get snow showers off and on the rest of the day with most areas getting 1 to 3 inches. South and West of the city could get a little more before it's all over tomorrow morning.
