Philadelphia City Council is talking today about a bill requiring regular safety inspections of food trucks' fuel tanks. Council is trying to prevent another deadly accident like the one that happened last July when a food truck erupted in flames on Feltonville Street. Two women died in that incident and a leaking propane tank triggered the blast.

A taxi driver was arrested overnight after leading police on a chase and crashing into a fence in South Philadelphia. Police say they received calls of a taxi going the wrong way. When officers found that taxi, police say the driver was asleep behind the wheel. When he wouldn’t wake up, the officers broke the window. Authorities have identified the off-duty Darby police officer who was shot and killed in his Glenolden home on Saturday afternoon. 26-year-old Darby Borough Officer Mark Hudson was found shot in the chest in an upstairs bedroom in the house on the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue around 4:30 pm Saturday. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where he died. His girlfriend was in the house at the time and was taken into custody for questioning. There have not been any charges filed as of... A Philadelphia Police officer is under arrest have showing up at the station early Saturday morning drunk, driving a damaged patrol car, and fighting with a supervisor after being confronted. 26-year-old Officer Darryl Cathey arrived at the 12th district headquarters on the 6500 Woodland Avenue around 12:20 a.m. Saturday morning in a marked patrol car with three flat tires and bent rims. Prosecutors in Somerset County, NJ, have issued their final report surrounding the mysterious deaths of a high-profile hospital CEO and his wife last fall. They have ruled that 72-year-old John Sheridan Jr. stabbed his wife of 47 years, 69-year-old Joyce Sheridan, before setting their bedroom on fire and committing suicide. The co-pilot of the Germanwings aircraft that crashed into the French Alps Tuesday may have hid an illness from the airline according to German prosecutors. A search of the the Duesseldorf home of Andreas Lubitz, yielded no suicide note, and there is no evidence that political or religious factors were involved in the crash. Officials say medical documents at Lubitz's home indicated "an existing illness and appropriate medical treatment."

SEPTA Driver Finds 4 Year Old Alone, Port Richmond Rape, SEPTA Bus Driver Assaulted

A SEPTA bus driver found a four-year-old girl outside in the rain overnight by herself next to a bus stop at Torresdale Avenue and Magee Street. The driver let the girl on the bus until police arrived. It remains unclear how long she was outside before she was discovered. A two hour effort then followed to find the girl’s family and home. The girl was eventually taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital where she would later be reunited with her mother. She did not suffer any injuries.Read More

Upper Darby police are asking for the public's help in finding a 25-year-old Drexel Hill woman that has been missing since last June. Amanda De Guio has not been seen since June 7th, 2014 when she left her home. Since then the family has not had any contact with her, no phone calls, and there hasn't been any activity on her credit cards. Plane Crash Appears Intentional; Philadelphia Population Growth; Both Men Fired Shots at Sgt Wilson

One of the pilots was locked out of the cockpit. The black box was recovered from the Germanwings Flight 9525 that crashed into the Alps killing all 150 people on board. After a smooth takeoff, audio recordings capture one of the pilots leaving the cockpit, and then banging on the door with increasing urgency until the plane crashed. On the recordings, the pilot in the cockpit can be heard breathing until impact but did not respond to calls from his copilot or the control tower.
