Upper Moreland Sheet Metal Plant Fire, Schilling Defends Daughter, Dominican Republic Drownings

Firefighters battled a five-alarm blaze at a sheet metal plant in Upper Moreland, Montgomery County. The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. Monday on the 2300 block of Wyandotte Road. The building was empty when the fire broke out. An hour later the blaze reached four alarms, and later became a five-alarm fire. Electricity and water had been shut off temporarily to the area.

A Montgomery County man is under arrest and charged with secretly recording women and girls and posting the videos online. 37-year-old Sean Moses of Penn Valley has been charged with over 80 counts of invasion of privacy and one count of child pornography. The investigation began last September when two female Villanova students reported someone using a cell phone to tape them undressing through the window of their Bryn Mawr apartment. A new Miss Philadelphia has been crowned. She is 22 year old Julia Rae Schlucter of Wayne, PA. Julia is a singer who battled lung conditions at Children's Hospital when she was just six years old. Governor Wolf has replaced Bill Green as chair of the School Reform Commission. In making the announcement that he's named Commissioner Marjorie Neff chair of the SRC. Neff is the former principal at Masterman High. Green couldn't say whether his removal stemmed from the SRC's approving five new charter schools against the governor’s wishes. Green says he'll fight the move in court.

A police officer was injured after being struck by a car and then dragged for more than 30 feet in Burlington County, New Jersey early Saturday morning. It happened around 1 a.m. when Police Sgt. Amaya Urtasun responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Riverside Elementary School on East Washington Street. A man was hit by a SEPTA bus in North Philadelphia this afternoon. It happened shortly before 4 pm at the Olney Transportation Center at Broad and Olney. The victim, described as a man in his early 20's, had missed the bus and was trying to get the driver's attention by banging on the door. The Route 6 bus was already pulling onto Broad Street. A driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a firehouse in Northeast Philadelphia early Friday morning. It happened at Engine 52 located on the corner of Van Kirk Street and Harbison Avenue just before 2 a.m. today. The car crashed into the firehouse doors, hitting an ambulance parked inside. The impact was so strong it sent the ambulance 10 feet back into a row of steel lockers. The 40-year-old driver of the car was not injured seriously.
