David Oh To Run For Mayor of Philadelphia; Resigns From City Council

David Oh announced his candidacy for Mayor of Philadelphia on Monday, February 13, 2023. He becomes the first Republican to enter the field; 10 Democrats are also running. 62-year-old Oh resigned as Councilmember-at-large. He was elected to City Council in 2011. He is an Army veteran and former prosecutor.

"I do think it is the right time to do something different," Oh said. "And that is to take all the things I could not do on council and do that for the city as mayor."Read More

Philadelphia City Council Passes Philadelphia Music Task Force Report and Recommendations

On Thursday, January 19, Philadelphia City Council approved a resolution introduced by Councilmember-at-large David Oh. Resolution 221042 is titled 'Adopting the Philadelphia Music Industry Task Force Report and Recommendations issued by Council's Global Opportunities and Creative/Innovative Economy.'

A Pennsylvania man was arrested for attempting to buy human remains that were stolen by an Arkansas woman. He then planned to sell them online. 40-year-old Jeremy Lee Pauley of Enola, Cumberland County, is charged with abuse of a corpse, receiving stolen property, and other offenses. Pauley sells medical "oddities" including human body parts and bones through his Facebook page called "The Grand Wunderkammer." U.S. women's basketball star Brittney Griner was convicted of smuggling drugs into Russia and was sentenced to 9 years in prison and fined $16,700. Griner was arrested on February 17 at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport when she arrived in the country. Officials found vape cartridges with 0.7 grams of cannabis oil in her luggage.
