Atlantic City, NJ awarded grant for flood gates

Atlantic City was rewarded a $1.13 million dollar grant to build Atlantic Avenue Flood Gates. This is apart of the Baltic Avenue Canal. This is the first U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDC) grant for Atlantic City.

With this grant, it will provide Atlantic City with floodgates that are combined with the Baltic Avenue Canal. It will help provide flood protection and storm water drainage for the city.

The Philadelphia 76ers have purchased an NBA Development League franchise that will play the upcoming 2013-14 season at University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center. The team will be named the Delaware 87ers and nicknamed the "Sevens." The name comes from the date that Delaware ratified the Constitution of the United States. Police have released surveillance photos of a suspect in a robbery at Harrah's Chester late Wednesday night. After midnight on Wednesday a 69-year-old woman was walking to her car in the parking garage when the suspect tackled her and knocked her on the ground knocking her out. The suspect took her purse and other belongings. The woman was treated at the hospital for minor injuries. Anyone who knows this individual is urged to contact investigators at 610-447-7908.

The popular boy band, One Direction, will be performing at 25 venues through out the U.S. and Canada on their 2013 World Tour. The boys will be performing in different areas in the Pennsylvania area.

Drexel University law students will now have the option to enter into a program where they will be able to start their career after two years, instead of three years, of study. This program was considered because of the high rate of student debt at the university and the low numbers for enrollment in the law school program. On March 23rd at the Absecon Lighthouse, a murder mystery performance will be held entitled, “Lit with a Dim Bulb”. It costs $25 per person to attend the show and enjoy dinner with pizza, beer, wine and soft drinks. The show acts out the sighting of The Jersey Devil when it was discovered on top of a lighthouse.
