The investigation continues into the accidental shooting of a Pennsylvania State trooper at a Montgomery County training facility on Tuesday. 26-year-old Trooper David Kedra was shot in the chest yesterday afternoon by a police firearms instructor during a training exercise. Kendra had been assigned to Troop K of the Skippack Barracks and resided in East Coventry Township, Chester County. He was a 2006 graduate of Roman Catholic and got a degree in criminology from Temple in 2010 before entering the state police academy. He is remembered as a dedicated and hard worker. Governor Corbett ordered flags to be flown at half mast in the capital and Montgomery County today in honor of Kedra.

Officials from Somerset County, NJ said today that preliminary results from the investigation into the fire that killed Cooper University Health System CEO John Sheridan Jr. and his wife Joyce Sheridan indicate that the fire was intentionally set. Firefighters responded to a fire at 6:15 a.m. at 49 Meadow Run Drive in Montgomery Township on Sunday morning. The fire was contained to the upstairs master bedroom where they discovered the Sheridans. 72-year-old John was pronounced dead the scene while 69-year-old Joyce died a short time later at the hospital. Somerset County Prosecutor’s Arson Task force investigators determined that the fire was set intentionally. Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano says that the investigation remains active and ongoing with lab results pending. Sheridan is remembered for his contributions in transforming the health system and the Camden community.

The American Planning Association has announced its annual "Great Places in America" list for 2014. Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market was honored this year among the 10 Great Public Places. The APA also honors Great Neighborhoods and Great Streets. Deputy Mayor Alan Greenberger and APA President-elect Carol Rhea were at the market today to announce the honor. Reading Terminal Market was opened at 12th and Arch Streets in 1892 by the Reading Railroad. It now sees 6 million yearly visitors. Past Philadelphia Great Places include: Ben Franklin Parkway, Broad Street, Chestnut Hill, Rittenhouse Square, and Society Hill. See the full list: https://www.planning.org/greatplaces/
