Tuesday was Day 6 in the search for missing West Chester University student Shane Montgomery. Home for the holidays, bar hopping with friends, ending at Kildare's, escorted out at closing time without incident. Shane exited the bar, walked south toward home, and vanished last Wednesday night. The FBI is involved conducting interviews by pooling phone and bank records and trying to track down relevant surveillance video. There is a candlelight vigil scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at West Chester University.

Hundreds of people may be at risk to hepatitis A after a kitchen worker at Rosa’s Restaurant and Catering in Hamilton Township, Mercer County tested positive. Before becoming hospitalized on November 29 the employee’s last day at work was November 24, so anyone who ate food from the restaurant between November 10 and December 1 should contact their doctor about a vaccination. Hepatitis A is the least severe type of hepatitis causing nausea, headaches and diarrhea, but it is rarely fatal. It is, however, highly contagious and exposure in a restaurant can lead to an outbreak.

Eastern State Penitentiary in Fairmount is helping to make the holidays a little brighter for children with parents in jail. If you bring a new unwrapped toy or book for the kids to Eastern State Penitentiary, the historic site will grant a second tour admission free of charge. The toy drive is a partnership between Eastern State and Philadelphia FIGHT’s Institute for Community Justice where Kai Yohman is Operations Coordinator. The toy drive is going on now through December 14th at Eastern State Penitentiary at 22nd and Fairmount. Items can also be dropped off at the Institute for Community Justice at 21 South 12th Street on the 7th floor.

Weather, December 3
Cloudy with showers in the area. High 53
