A Philadelphia Police officer is under arrest have showing up at the station early Saturday morning drunk, driving a damaged patrol car, and fighting with a supervisor after being confronted. 26-year-old Officer Darryl Cathey arrived at the 12th district headquarters on the 6500 Woodland Avenue around 12:20 a.m. Saturday morning in a marked patrol car with three flat tires and bent rims. The sergeant noticed the smell of alcohol on Cathey's breath and bloodshot eyes and Cathey didn't know how the tires got damaged. While he was being taken into custody he got into a struggle with a supervisor and other officers. He has been charged with DUI, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person for assaulting the supervisor. Commissioner Charles Ramsey suspended him for 30 days with the intent to dismiss. Internal affairs and the accident investigation division are looking into how the car was damaged. Cathey is a six year veteran of the force. In 2011, he was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and charged with robbery. He was fired but was rehired two years later after going through arbitration with the help of the Fraternal Order of Police.

An off-duty Darby Borough police officer shot inside his home in Glenolden, Delaware County, this afternoon has died. It happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue. Police found the 26-year-old man in an upstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he died. The four-year veteran of the Darby Borough Police Department and volunteer firefighter in the borough of Yeadon lived at the home with his girlfriend. She was home at the time and it being questioned by police. There is no word as to circumstances around the shooting. "He was a shining star in the department," said Darby Borough police Chief Robert Smythe. "An even tempered nice guy. Anybody that met him had a good word for him." The officer's name is being withheld until family members can be notified. Neighbors say that police had been called out several times in the past few months for domestic disputes between the officer and his girlfriend. The investigation continues.

UPDATE: 3/29 7:00 pm:The officer who was shot and killed inside his Glenolden home yesterday has been identified as 26-year-old Mark Hudson. His girlfriend was home at the time and has been taken into custody for questioning but no charges have been filed. Hudson may have recently gotten an order of protection against his girlfriend.

Authorities have identified a woman whose body was found buried in a shallow grave behind a home in Frankford earlier this week. Police say that 39-year-old Kelly Hepfl suffered multiple stab wounds to her head, neck, and chest. Police were notified of a possible body buried behind a building on the 4700 block of Frankford Avenue. At 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday they saw toes sticking out of the dirt and then exhumed a body wrapped in plastic bags. Her clothing was found in a nearby dumpter. Officers struggled with and took a man into custody at the scene, but no charges have been filed yet. Police say that the investigation is still open.
