SEPTA Subway Teen Brawl Video; NJ Residents Evacuate Sinkhole; PPA Employee Killed by Tow Truck

SEPTA Police are investigating after discovering surveillance footage of a brutal brawl between teenagers on Tuesday at the Spring Garden station of the Broad Street line. No one, including the victims, reported the incident. It happened at 3:15 pm on the subway platform. More than a dozen students were involved in the chaos. Teens were punching, kicking, and stomping on other's heads. At one point someone fell off the platform and onto the tracks. He was able to pull himself back up and return to the fight. SEPTA patrol officers arrived on the scene but all of the teens had just disappeared onto the next train. Two of the victims have been identified as Ben Franklin High School students and are now working with SEPTA police. The Philadelphia School District is also helping with the investigation.

Residents of two South Jersey properties have been forced to evacuate after a giant sink hole continues to grow behind their homes. The homes are on located on the 400 block of E. Front Street in Florence, Burlington County, but more importantly the backyards back up to the Delaware River. Starting two years ago the hillside started to erode. Recently, heavy rains have caused some dramatic collapses in the cliff, bringing the 70 ft hole treacherously close to the homes. Also, a municipal drain pipe that was supposed to be capped was exposed and spewing water down the ravine. Engineers determined another devastating collapse could occur anytime and take the homes with it. The families were told they needed to leave on Wednesday morning. They took with them what couldn't be replaced; pictures, documents, etc. Officials are now trying to figure out what they can do to shore up the hole.

A PPA employee was run over and killed by a tow truck at a PPA lot in South Philadelphia this morning. The Philadelphia Parking Authority has identified the man as 60-year-old Jeffrey Bayers of Maple Shade, NJ. He was married with three children. Bayers was a lot officer at an impoundment lot at 2500 Weccacoe Avenue. He was on the job at 6:50 a.m. when a tow truck backed up and pinned him underneath. A PPA spokesman called it a 'tragic accident' and that the incident was under investigation. Bayers worked for the PPA for 13 years.
