Fire officials in Philadelphia are working on investigating the scene where a fire burned several properties in Old City last month. The fire broke out back on February 18th in the area of Third and Chestnut Streets. The fire started in a basement which then spread to other buildings on the block leaving several homes with serious fire damage. The issue at hand is crews are still unable to complete a full investigation due to the wreckage being unstable for entry. The Department of Licenses and Inspection hoped to start demolition on Tuesday, but they will only be able to dismantle certain parts of the building to keep it stabilized for inspection. ATF agents were lowered into the building for a glance at the wreckage, but had to keep suspended for their safety. Officials are hoping that if all goes as planned, they can have ATF agents and Fire Marshall Investigators inside and on the ground by next week.

Mayor Kenney's Heroin Task Force held a forum on Tuesday to get the public's opinion on putting a safe-injection site for addicts in Kensington. There were residents that were arguing for both sides of the issue. Some said that it could be a helpful aid to fighting the opioid crisis. Using Vancouver as an example, where after putting in a safe-injection site, they prevented numerous overdoses. Advocates say that it could help curb the overdose death rate since Philadelphia had around 1200 overdose fatalities last year alone. Some people argued that it could eventually raise more problems and could possibly enable more drug use, forcing their community into another problem for the opioid crisis.

City Councilman David Oh took to the witness stand on Tuesday in the trial of his accused attacker that stabbed him last spring. Oh identified 25-year-old Shawn Yarbray, for a third time, as the man who stabbed him in the left side and slashed him while he was unloading his vehicle at his home in Southwest Philadelphia. Oh stated that Yarbray lunged at him 10 times with a 5 inch blade. Oh does not believe that he was trying to kill him. Yarbray's attorney stated that he thinks this is a case of mistaken identity and reasonable doubt because Oh identified Yarbray out of a group of mug shots.
