A 13-year-old boy drowned early Wednesday morning, 8/21, after he and three friends snuck into a Delaware County swim club to go 'pool hopping.' It happened just after midnight at the Folcroft Swim Club. The four boys, ages 13-15, from Darby were able to slip through the locked gate and gain access to the pool. None of the boys knew how to swim. They were playing on some flotation devices in the deep end when the victim decided to jump off of the high dive. He attempted to land on a float but landed on his friend instead and the float got pushed away. Since he couldn't swim, the boy sank to the bottom. His three friends couldn't help him and ran away. A 15-year-old boy did call 911 after they had left, but didn't know what pool they were at. Police initially went to Briarcliffe Swim Club before going to Folcroft. It was too late. The swim club was closed on Wednesday, but will reopen on Tuesday. The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office will handle the investigation.

A man who went missing while kayaking along the Maurice River in Cumberland County, NJ, has been found deceased. The man was last seen near the East Point Lighthouse in Heislerville, New Jersey, around 5 p.m. on Monday. He was reported missing at 12:30 a.m. On Tuesday morning, 8/20, State Police found a yellow kayak matching the description of the man's boat on Tuesday, 8/20. He was found near Thompson Beach near Heislerville, New Jersey, Wednesday morning. The Coast Guard, the New Jersey State Police and Downe Township Rescue Squad from Cumberland County were involved in the search. "We extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends impacted by this loss," said Capt. Scott Anderson, Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay commander. "We would also like to thank our state and county partner agencies and first responders for their extraordinary efforts during this search." The man's identity has not bee released.

A Chester County priest has been arrested for allegedly stealing close to $100,000 from his parish. 56-year-old Monsignor Joseph McLoone was arrested on Wednesday, 8/21, and charged with felony theft and other related charges for stealing from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Downingtown. The Chester County District Attorney’s Office says that McLoone opened up a secret bank account in 2011 called "The St. Joseph Activity Account." He diverted donations to the church as well as fees for weddings and funerals into the account. He used that money to pay for his beach house in Ocean City, travel, dining, and relationships with men, according to court documents. The accounts were frozen in February 2018 and McCloone resigned as pastor. The parish has had a new pastor since August 2018. McCloone's bail has been set at $50,000.
