Police say that a suspect has been taken into custody for the fatal shooting of a 2-year-old over the weekend in North Philadelphia. The suspect was arrested in Chester on Tuesday, 10/22, by Philadelphia police. The identity of the suspect has not been released. 2-year-old Nikolette Rivera was killed when the gunman opened fire on her family's home on the 3300 block of North Water Street in the Fairhill neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, 10/20. She was shot in the back of the head. Her 24-year-old mother was shot in the side of the head and back. A 33-year-old carpet cleaner was shot in the stomach. They are both expected to survive. There is a $30,000 reward in this case for information that leads to an arrest. There is also a $30,000 reward in the shooting of an 11-month-old child on Saturday.

UPDATE: Police have arrested Freddie Perez of Chester, Delaware County. He has been charged with murder for his involvement. Police are looking for a second suspect they believe was the actual shooter.

A Montgomery County jury took about a hour to reach a verdict in the case of 31-year-old Keenan Jones of Philadelphia. Jones was accused of shooting five random people in a Walmart store in Cheltenham in August 2018. The jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts including attempted murder, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and reckless endangerment. The defense argued that he had a "psychotic break" and suffered from PTSD. They hoped the jury would find Jones not guilty by reason of insanity. Prosecutors said that Jones knew what he was doing and that it was wrong, "as we proved by his flight and his attempt to ditch the gun on the road after the incident," Prosecutor Tonya Lupinacci said.

A 6-year-old Northampton County boy is in intensive care after his father accidentally ran him over with a riding mower. It happened just before 6 p.m. Monday, 10/21, on the 500 block of Christine Ann Lane in Lower Nazareth Township. The father was backing up and accidentally ran over the child. The boy's legs became trapped in the mower's blades. The father was able to turn the machine over and use his belt to control the bleeding. He suffered life-threatening injuries. The boy is still in the ICU but is listed in stable condition.
