Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, son of head coach Any Reid, was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on Thursday night, 2/4, that sent two children to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries. 35-year-old Reid admitted to a responding officer that he'd had "two or three drinks" and also takes prescription Adderall.

It happened on an on-ramp to Interstate 435 in Kansas City. A Kansas City Missouri Police Department (KCPD) report says a car had ran out of gas on the ramp. A second car stopped to help and also parked on the ramp. Reid, driving a third vehicle, hit the left front of the disabled vehicle and crashed into the back of the second vehicle. A 5-year-old in the back seat of the second vehicle was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 4-year-old also in the back seat was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Reid was also transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. An officer said Reid's eyes were bloodshot and he smelled "a moderate odor of alcoholic beverages." According a search warrant, the officer performed HGN tests and observed signs of impairment. Reid will not travel to Tampa Bay for Super Bowl LV.

The Kansas City Chiefs released a statement, "The organization has been made aware of a multi-vehicle accident involving Outside Linebackers Coach, Britt Reid. We are in the process of gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved."

Britt Reid has been in trouble with the law in the Philadelphia area and struggled with addiction issues in the past. In January 2007, he pled guilty to brandishing a gun during a road rage incident in West Conshohocken. He was sentenced to 8-23 months in prison. He was also arrested in August 2007 for DUI and drug related charges. He entered into a Montgomery County Drug Treatment Court program.

On the same day, 1/30/07, of the road rage incident, Andy Reid's other son Garrett was involved in a separate drug-fueled crash a few miles away in Plymouth Meeting that resulted in injuries. Britt showed up at the scene of that accident and was questioned by police. Garrett would plead guilty in the crash and was sentenced to two to 23 months in prison. Garrett died of an accidental heroin overdose during Eagles training camp at Lehigh University in 2012.
