Mick Jagger hosted the season finale of Saturday Night Live. He was terrific in all his skits, very funny, and a decent actor in his first time hosting SNL. He even played Steven Tyler of Aerosmith in one skit looking much like his large mouthed rock colleague. The highlights were definitely his two guest performances with Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters. Mick and Arcade Fire ripped through "The Last Time". Jagger joined Foo Fighters for a medley of "19th Nervous Breakdown" → "It's Only Rock and Roll". Finally, Mick Jagger was joined by Jeff Beck and backed by the SNL band for a rocking blues number about the election. This was thought to be the final season for Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, and Kristen Wiig. Hader made maybe his last appearance as Stefon on Weekend Update and Samberg contributed a Digital Short. It is confirmed that Wiig is leaving. Kristen received a very nice and warm sendoff with Arcade Fire playing “She's A Rainbow” and “Ruby Tuesday” at end the show. Past and current cast mates took a moment to say goodbye before Lorne Michaels made a rare onscreen appearance to give Wiig a hug.
An Ocean City, NJ mansion has sold today in a rare, absolute auction with no minimum, for $3.9 million. The 7,000-square-foot Victorian-style house located right on the Great Bay was being sold at auction conducted by Premiere Estates. The owners had tried to sell it the traditional way and had listed it at $6.5 million, but without luck. Over 2000 people came through the house in the past 6 weeks during open houses and appointments, but today's auction was won by Pam & Bob Chandler of Rumson, Monmouth County who hadn't seen the house until today. They were one of 19 other bidders from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, Chicago, and Florida, plus a phone bidder from California. The sellers,Edward and Barbara Idzik, plan to move to a house they are building in Montgomery County to be closer to their grandchildren.
In Sports, Phillies 6-game win streak snapped, lose to Red Sox 7-5.
I'll Have Another won the Preakness setting the stage for a Triple Crown run at the Belmont next month. Bodemeister again placed second.
