Amtrak Train Kills Man, Police Wound Attacker Near Temple, Hit and Run Suspect Surrenders

A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak Express train this morning near the Holmesburg train station. SEPTA has resumed operation of the Trenton Regional line but Amtrak is operating at reduced speeds between Philadelphia and New York. The victim has not been identified.

Philadelphia Police shot a man who opened fire on them early this morning near the Temple campus. Temple campus police heard a car crash around 2 am and then gunfire. They called for backup from Philly police. When the gunman fired on the officers, the returned fire, wounding him in the leg.

The suspect in the fatal hit and run in Camden surrendered to police and is now behind bars. New Jersey State Police say 35 year old Ronald Winzinger turned himself in last night. The crash on Saturday took the life of Michelle Macinnes and injured two friends when their car, stopped in traffic was struck from behind.
