Clergy-Sex Abuse Jury Prepares for Long Haul, City Council Adjusting 12-pet limit Ordinance.

Jurors in the clergy abuse case against two Archdiocese of Philadelphia priests are gearing up for a long deliberation. They first entered the jury room with the case in their hands last Friday afternoon and have since sent back inquiries on legal guidance as well as additional evidence. Today they asked Judge M. Teresa Sarmina if they could have off tomorrow and return late Monday, cuting family obligations, such as graduations. Next week they will also have off Wednesday and Friday. This jury is prepared for the long haul and is seems to be carefully considering every thing in the landmark trial.

Philadelphia City Council has started the process that would get approval for a clarification on the city's 12-pet limit ordinance. The current code states that residents may possess no more that 12 cats or dogs and only two can be unspayed or unneutered. However, the language used in the current code stipulates pets in the “dwelling unit” not the entire property. In the past, people have had many more than 12 animals at their property but successfully argued that since they lived outside the house they did not count. The revision to the ordinance is meant to stay true to it's meaning and prevent people from keeping animals in garages, or illegal kennels, or even boxes outside just to skirt the law.

In Sports, Joe Banner was released as Eagles President. Phillies got swept by the Dodgers losing 8-3 today. Phillies announced that Mike Lieberthal will be inducted into the Phillies Wall of Fame in Ashburn Alley during Alumni Weekend in August.
