A 25 year old Upper Darby Man, Maurice Kimble, 25, was shot and killed last night outside P.Y.T., a popular bar at the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties. The shooting occurred along Hancock Street after a disagreement outside the bar. Police have recovered what is believed to be the murder weapon. The shooter is still being sought.

UPDATE: Police are narrowing in on a person of interest and hope to make an arrest soon. The entire incident and shooting has rattled the mixed use retail and apartment complex at the Piazza at Schmidt's. The Northern Liberties Neighbors Association is going to be holding a meeting in the coming days for community members, Piazza management, and PYT to discuss taking measures to increase security so incidents don't escalate to deadly levels. From what police can tell the two parties involved in the bar argument did not know each. This is the third murder at the former brewery since it opened with it's new use in May 2009. The first two happened when it was only a month old.

A historic vote is coming this week that could end state controlled liquor stores in Pennsylvania. The House is considering a new proposal that would make 1,600 private licenses available. If approved, the 1,000 current beer distributors would get first crack at selling wine and spirits.

Opening arguments get underway in the trial of former Penn state assistant football coach, Jerry Sandusky, facing 52 counts of sexual assault of 10 boys over a 15 year period. If convicted, Sandusky could spend the rest of his life in prison.
