A carbon monoxide leak forced evacuations in Darby Township early this afternoon. A two-alarm underground transformer fire prompted officials to evacuate buildings on the 800 block of Main Street. The block is a mix of residential and commercial buildings including a nursing home. PECO officials were at the scene. It was initially believed overheated underground cables were causing the deadly gas levels. No injuries are reported.

Angry Birds developer Rovio and the Philadelphia Eagles announced a new marketing partnership today. They are the first sports franchise to sign a deal with the massively popular video game that has been downloaded more than a billion times world wide. It only makes sense for our “Birds” to team up with their Birds in creating something unique and exciting. More details will be known closer to the start of the season; the best bet is an Eagles themed Angry Birds app.

Two malnourished horses were found tied to a fence at 7th and Diamond Streets in North Philadelphia this morning. PSPCA officers came to find the pair abandoned there with no food, water, or owner in sighte. Yvette Chamberlain, 49, was on break from work, having a cigarette, and felt a nudge. When she turned around she got a startle not expecting to see a horse. She has seen them in the neighborhood before, being ridden by men or giving rides to children. Police are looking for their owner or any information.

In Sports, Peter Nowak has been let go as manager and vice president of soccer operations for the Philadelphia Union. Nowak will be replaced by John Hackworth.

Tonight partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the 70's this evening in Philadelphia.
