Thousands Powerless in South Jersey, Delaware Church Burglar Caught, Kingsessing Fire

Throughout Cumberland and Atlantic counties, the damage is severe. Thousands are still without power and some are now homeless. In Vineland, trees have leveled dozens of homes at two trailer parks. For the fortunate, a few generators are running, but most are in to their fourth full day without power in sweltering heat. As of Wednesday late morning 36,000 are still without power.

Delaware State Police have arrested a man they say burglarized the same church three times in two weeks. Fifty-two-year-old Michael McGowan of Pottstown, Pa., was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts each of burglary and theft. He is being held on $7,500 secured bail. Officers reviewing surveillance video identified McGowan as a suspect and he was arrested while walking on Route 202.

Crews through the night battled a three-alarm fire in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia. The fire broke out on South 52nd and Pentridge Street at about 11 p.m. Multiple row homes are affected and several residents have been displaced.
